Social Workers Role

Our Social Workers are licensed mental health professionals who provide a critical link between the school, family and community to ensure that all students have the access and ability to succeed in their educational endeavors. School Social Workers acknowledge that in order to be successful academically, students’ social, emotional and behavioral needs must also be addressed.

Round Rock ISD currently employs 11 Master’s level Social Workers, with two assigned to each Vertical Learning Community and one  dedicated to supporting RRISD staff. Our Social Workers receive referrals from school counselors, administrators, nurses, Round Rock ISD Police Officers, LSSPs, Attendance Officers and Completion Specialists. Behavioral Health Social Workers support student and family wellbeing through short-term counseling, mental health crisis response, connection with community resources, and collaboration with campus staff. They are also available to consult and to provide education on topics related to mental health.
